U4GM Guide to D4 Season 12 Obducite and Cache Loops

Season 12 doesn't ease you in. One minute you're feeling good about a new drop, the next you're staring at Masterworking costs and wondering where your Obducite went. It's not that the system's bad, it's that the game kinda nudges you into wasting time early on. If you're planning upgrades, it helps to think about your gear targets first, even browsing DIABLO 4 ITEMS to get a sense of what slots are actually worth sinking mats into, because "I'll masterwork it later" turns into "I've got nothing left" really fast.

Treasure Breach is the Obducite printer
Here's the loop most people miss: don't trash Treasure Breach sigils. Don't "save them for later" either. Run them. In a Treasure Breach Nightmare Dungeon, the place turns into a goblin circus, and in Torment 4 those little thieves are basically walking piles of Obducite. You'll see drops in the 600 to 1,500 range per goblin, and when the spawns line up, you can leave with tens of thousands of mats in a single short run. The big mistake is burning Sigil Powder while you're still in lower Torments. Hold that powder until you're comfortable in T4, craft sigils in batches, and keep rolling until Treasure Breach shows up. That one affix can carry your whole Masterworking routine.

How to stop wasting Sigil Powder
A lot of players chase "perfect" dungeon layouts and end up salvaging anything that looks annoying. That habit hurts this season. Treat your sigils like a resource pipeline: craft in bulk, run only the high-value affixes, and ignore the urge to overthink map flow. Treasure Breach doesn't care if the dungeon is pretty. It cares that you're killing fast and looting fast. Keep your inventory clear, portal out only if you have to, and don't get baited into side objectives. You're there for mats, not a sightseeing tour. Once you've banked enough Obducite for a few items, then go back and do your "normal" content.

Bloodied Hordes for XP, rep, and those caches
After you've stocked up on materials, shift to Bloodied Infernal Hordes. That's where the season feels alive: fast XP, solid reputation progress, and a real shot at Greater Bloodied Caches if you keep your pace up. You'll need Bloodied Compasses, and Helltide is still the easiest place to scoop them—spinning fire towers, mystery chests, the usual stuff. The Relentless Butcher is the gatekeeper, though. In T4 he's a health brick, and it can tank your clear speed. T3 is often the sweet spot: quicker waves, better killstreaks, more consistent cache upgrades, and less time spent beating on one angry sponge.

When you just want to skip the slow start
If RNG's been rough and you're stuck in that awkward phase where nothing upgrades cleanly, shortcuts can save your week. Some folks pick up starter gear, materials, or compasses through U4GM so they can jump straight into the fun loop—Treasure Breach for Obducite, then Hordes for levels and caches—without spending every night scraping together the basics.
